    NOTICES:

    SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE:

    VSU Information Technology will perform maintenance on the following:

    Authentication/Single Sign-On (2 separate maintenance)

    Thursday, June 20, 12am - 1am

    Saturday, June 22, 12am - 1am

    Impact: The following services will be unavailable during these maintenance windows:

    • MyVSU and all related APEX portals
    • Office 365 services including E-Mail
    • BlazeVIEW/D2L
    • BannerAdmin and Banner Web
    • OneUSG
    • Several other applications that require login (PaymentWorks, SkillSoft, etc.)
    Firewall Maintenance
    Beginning: Saturday, June 22, 10pm
    Ending: Sunday, June 23, 1am
    Impact: None or minimal impact to network services are anticipated during this maintenance window.

    SOLUTIONS CENTER PHONES BACK UP:

    Update: Solutions Center is up and running and can now take your phone calls, in addition to your emails. Thank you for your patience as we resolved the issue.


    V:\DEPT MAINTENANCE:

    Network V-Drive\Dept will be unavaible: Friday, June 14, 10pm-11pm

    After the maintenace has been completed, restart your computer before using.


    BANNER 9 WEB UPGRADE MAINTENANCE:

    In order to complete the upgrade to the new Banner 9 Web Application, Banner Web will be unavailable:

    Beginning: Saturday, June 8, 10pm
    Ending: Sunday, June 9, 2am


    BANNER MONTH-END SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE:

    Banner and all related services (Banner Web, Banner Admin, online payment systems, etc.) will be unavailable:
    Friday, May 31, 10pm – Midnight


    OUTLOOK - PERSONAL DEVICES

    If you are unable to access your VSU email using your personal mobile device native email application (e.g., Apple Mail) or Outlook 2013 or older on your personal computer, please do one of the following:

    • Use MyVSU Email via the web; or the VState Mobile App
    • Download the latest Outlook app that corresponds to your personal mobile device (Apple, Android, Windows, etc.)
    • Install the latest, compatible version of the Microsoft Office Suite for free on your personal computer

    Visit Microsoft Office Quick Starts or login to Hoonuit through MyVSU to learn more about Microsoft Office.

    DEPARTMENT & CLASS FILE STORAGE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE:

    Tonight, May 17, 9pm – 10pm, we will perform maintenance on the network file storage systems known as V-Drive\Department (V:\dept) and V-Drive\Class (V:\class). During this time, access will be unavailable. Please save your work and close any open documents before the maintenance window begins. After the maintenance has been completed,restart your computer before using. Thank you for your cooperation.

    NEWS: 

    • Banner Web Services Upgrade

    On May 30, we will release a new and improved version of the Banner Web Services application! Banner 9 is a complete overhaul of the current Banner 8 version. This major upgrade will provide enhanced navigation and process management tools along with a noticeable, modern-looking interface designed to improve the experience for Students, Faculty, and Staff.   

    • The MyVSU Portal (Beta)

    This past fall, we launched a completely new and updated version of the MyVSU Portal. Many of you provided valuable feedback on how could improve the look and function of the portal. As a result we ask that you test a beta version of the suggested changes and provide even more feedback.

    • Valdosta State implemented the Visual Schedule Builder (VSB)

    VSB helps you to create a schedule based on the courses and times that work best for you. This real-time class scheduling tool arranges your selected courses into conflict-free timetables and displays them in an easy-to-read weekly schedule.

    • The new Ellucian Banner 9 Admin Pages will be deployed on October 22, 2018.

      Replacing the current Banner 8 Forms (INB) version, Banner 9 Admin Pages will deliver noticeable improvements:

      • a modern user interface
      • enhanced navigation and process management tools
      • new functionality across the student, HR and finance utilities, and
      • the ability to run from a variety of web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and mobile devices (tablets and phones)

    • The 2018 Division of Information Annual Report is now published. The report highlights several impactful projects completed during the 2017-2018 fiscal year, upcoming projects, and the staff within IT that help make the VState experience possible.
       
    • VSU WiFi Upgrade:  The Division of Information Technology is proud to announce that, while supporting over 3.2 million square feet of coverage, we have increased the bandwidth for the campus residential network by 150% (from 2 gigabits per second to 5). This increase will provide faster and more reliable connectivity for academic and residential needs while also adding support for high-definition (HD) media streaming and increased simultaneous connections.
